School of Biological and Ecological Engineering

Set with six majors of Health Management, Garden Technology, Food Inspection and Testing Technology, Chemical Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Production Technology and Pet Maintenance and Discipline, the school has now enrolled 1,371 students and formed a faculty team comprising 40 high-quality “dual-qualified” teachers, including 3 doctors and 5 professors. In addition, the school has 1 Young and Middle-Aged Expert with Outstanding Contributions to Dongying, 1 Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker in Dongying, 1 Chief Technician in Dongying, and 10 teachers winning such honorary titles as excellent teachers, teaching experts and excellent skill appraisal assessors at Shandong provincial and/or Dongying municipal level.

In recent years, the school has earnestly implemented its fundamental task of moral education-based talent cultivation, proactively explored new paths of modern apprenticeship systems and new apprenticeship systems for enterprises, and set up series stations and centers including the National Agricultural Vocational Skills Appraisal Station, Shandong Herbal Medicine Innovation Team Experimental Station, as well as Food and Drug Engineering Technology R&D Center of Universities in Shandong Province. The Food and Drug Engineering Technology R&D Center and the Productive Training Base of Food Nutrition and Testing Specialty were recognized as programs under the Action Plan for Innovation and Development of Higher Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education. Moreover, the school has established good cooperation with numerous internationally renowned enterprises and organizations such as CP Group (Global Fortune 500), COFCO (Global Fortune 500), TECH-BANK (national key leading enterprise of agricultural industrialization) and Dongying People’s Hospital relying on the Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Area of the Yellow River Delta, a national agricultural high-tech zone, and Dongying Modern Agriculture Demonstration Zone. DVI has established in-depth cooperation with the aforesaid partners in personnel training, scientific research, education and teaching, practical training, teacher training, and joint construction of practical teaching base. Moreover, DVI has opened such tailored classes for enterprises like “CP Class” and piloted the modern apprenticeship system and 1+X certificate system, continuously improving the quality of personnel training and vigorously supporting the regional economic development.

Keeping the educational philosophy of “service-based, employment-oriented and quality-ensured” in mind, the school has always stayed true to the fundamental task of moral education-based talent cultivation, continuously strengthened and improved students’ ideological and political education, and deepened the education and teaching reformation with skill improvement as the core and skills competitions as the means. As a result, the school has made remarkable improvement in talent cultivation: 320 students were admitted to universities or colleges for their bachelor degree; 25 students admitted to universities and colleges for their doctoral or master’s degree; students won one first prize and eight second prizes in diverse national competitions; the employment rate ranked forefront. After graduation, graduates can also get one to two vocational qualification certificates and vocational skill appraisal certificates in addition to their graduation certificate. Except those graduates who have been admitted by universities and colleges to further their study, many other graduates work for biotechnology, food, pharmaceutical and garden enterprises, etc. Many of them have made outstanding achievements in their posts and become the backbone in such fields as food and drug production and management.
